Otto's Eleven - Spind EntertainmentWill he get it back? Written by Karimousa. Otto as usually playing himself or rather his stage-persona and his friends live on the North-Sea-island of Spiegeleiland "Fried Egg Island" and seek to lure tourists over the internet.
Otto and his entourage follow the thief to the mainland and, by digging a tunnel under his casino, try to return the valuable heirloom.
I've mentioned it in other reviews, but will say it again here: in his high time, the 's and 80's, there was virtually no way to get around Otto Waalkes.
As kids, one would trade Otto-audio-tapes, books and other merchandise among each other, rattle down his jokes, which pretty much everybody knew by heart already and the parents would let their kids stay up late, so they could watch his stand-up routine a mix of slapstick, linguistic humour, spoofs and musical interludes.
Not to mention, this first cinema-movie "Otto — Der Film" remains one of the bestselling local films of all times.
Indeed, though no fancy intellectual humour, appealing more to the bourgeois rather than the high-class, Otto had built a memorial for himself — and that's pretty much where the decline started.
Did I say decline? No, perhaps "decay" would be the better word yet. In this odd years, Otto has not changed or progressed one single iota, performing — or rather recycling — the same old jokes, sticking percent to his quirky stage-persona including during interviews , to an extent where one seriously asks himself: was this ever funny?
And, if so, why? Sure, one can look through the rosy lenses of nostalgia but essentially it's like listening to an old, worn-out uncle, who literally keeps telling the same joke that amused you when you were a kid and he was still a young dude.
In short: nothing short of pathetic. And it's not like Otto had reached a pinnacle with the pitiful display in "Otto's Eleven" yet — for that you'd have to wait another six years, until he produced and starred in "Kartoffelsalad", a movie — if you want to call it that — which very deceivingly stayed on the bottom of IMDb's "Bottom"-List for a good amount of time.
It must be said, Otto's greatest strength in his glory time was, that he had a touch on the pulse of time. It's very clear here that Otto has lost that touch a long time ago.
As one can imagine from the basic storyline, Otto and his crew merely spoof films like "Ocean's Eleven", "Ladykillers" and a number of other crime-films, peppered up with the same, lame old jokes that have been in his repertoire for a long, long time.
As for the rest of the cast: Mirco Nontschew's form of comedy can only be described as "pulling grimaces", Rick Kavanian is usually the sidekick of one of the most successful Otto-clones Bully Herbig and Max Giermann will probably best be remembered for his Klaus Kinski impersonation, which he performs to perfection, although the routine is getting slightly thin.
Highlights would be Sky du Mont, an otherwise rather versatile actor, who unfortunately never got as far as he could have and Olli Dietrich.
Dietrich, best known for his role in the improvisation-show "Dittsche", plays the journalist Harry Hirsch, which used to be one of Otto's most famous and enduring comedy-alter-egos.

Crazy Credits. You won't know for certain after all the time it will take to wade through six episodes so I recommend FFW to episode six at about Watch from this point on and you will get most of what all six episodes are repeating over and over.
All the dots were connected, the truths were uncovered, the suspect even places himself on camera mind you, with 2 of the dead girls right b4 they die, and it goes on and on and on I wish I had never watched it I do not recommend it I cannot imagine how the families of these girls must feel.
After all these years to get some hope that this monster would be held responsible for what he did and then Very upsetting. This is a riveting series, and my respect and gratitude for these committed and tireless souls who left no stone unturned in seeking justice for these tragically murdered girls grew with every episode.
I frankly cringe at some of the cold and critical reviews These young women's lives and their loss were perfectly honoured by the meticulous work of Fred and Lise, the series kept my attention without a moments lapse.
Thank you for this masterful work and the generosity and care you gave to the task. As other reviewers have said it's ok but drawn out and repetitive in places.
I also found myself generally frustrated throughout the series due to the approach of the two investigators.
They didn't let the evidence lead to a possible conclusion. Instead, they started with the answer they wanted and made the evidence fit their narrative.
There was even a pretty awkward moment toward the end where they speak with a serial killer expert and he more or less tells them that they are reading more into the confession letters than is actually there and letting their bias influence their investigation.
For a reporter wanting a story and a former detective who maybe wants to "solve one last big case" it's easy to see how they could slip into this way of thinking.
I don't disagree that Edward Bell is likely guilty of some and maybe even all of the murders but it was pretty clear that these two investigators were leading the evidence where they wanted it to go.
I have great respect for the work done by Lise and Fred to investigate these cold cases. Yes, this series rambles on at times, yes, it is frustrating spoiler alert there is no clear resolution at the end, but I believe their work does a lot of good.
First, they respect the memory of these girls who had so much of life to look forward to, and each victim is portrayed as the unique person they were not just as a crime statistic.
Second, when I see the work done by these two amateur detectives I think, "why did it take 30 years and a couple dedicated civilians to dig through these cases properly and turn up the heat.
Fred and Lise do get a bit too fixated with reading into the primary suspect Bell's confessions, and I like that they brought in the serial killer expert to review their work and poke holes in it.
In that episode you can see Fred getting real defensive when the outside expert points out how he's reading into the confession things that weren't actually said.
Still, Fred and Lise were man and woman enough to put the critique of their work on camera, I admire the humility needed to do that, it is their "show" and these days it's uncommon to see anyone not try to spin every media impression in their favor, but Lise and Fred didn't do that and I respect them greatly for that.
Looking at how long it took to adequately work these cases made me think of issues we have across our country with criminal investigation: seems to me that the violent crime that worries us most today often has a hidden, pre-planned component and police would do better with more well-trained detectives than MRAPS, 50 cals and SWAT raids?
I digress, sorry - back to the series The most impressive piece to me was when Lise and Fred follow the trail to Panama, and find Bell's former live-in girlfriend down there.
Watching her facial expressions, it seems that she truly was in love with Bell and didn't seem to realize, even without accusing him re:The Eleven, he was a sick pedophile with a long series of charges and convictions involving under age girls.
You can see her face turn to disgust, maybe she was acting, but to me it felt like it dawned on her that she and her daughter lived with a predatory monster and are lucky to be alive.
OK, so lots of kudos overall to Lise and Fred, but I do need to critique that while they are energetic and logical investigators, if one of them had stronger skills with interrogation and interview techniques it would have helped in places.
Bell had some self-centered desire for attention and admiration, he prob wrote the confession letter to get attention and to stey relevant on people's minds, seems that Lise could have played that more, at times play to his ego but also sometimes ignore him.
After they return from Panama, Lise could have sold Bell a little more on what his Panamanian girlfriend said, maybe play up how she clearly missed their time together and loved him, work his ego since it seems like the ONLY decent relationship he had with a female his entire life, and then tell Bell how his girlfriend only hoped he would confess now to God for the good of his soul.
Bell might want Fernandina I think that was her name and others to believe they did have something good in Panama and it wasn't all just a fake lie, it was possible emotional leverage that Lise didn't use.
Also when he was telling how young girls always wanted to get with him, and how the two got in his truck at the ice cream store and said they wanted him, I could understand the look on Lise's face was of complete disgust with Bell, but if she wanted to work him to get him to reveal more about the incident she needed to fake it and maybe act jealous or show some fake admiration at what a player he was, it might have been a time when if Fred had taken the interview a guy-to-guy dynamic might have gotten Bell to let some evidence slip.
I don't know, I'm not a detective I've just done a lot of sales meetings in business and think sometimes you gotta suck up your personal feelings about the other person and focus on what keeps them talking, keeps them revealing things.
Overall, great show for any true-crime investigation fan! This documentary was well done and kept my attention throughout. Great detective work and I'm so glad that they didn't give up.
I have to admit that I had never heard of these cases, or Edward Harold Bell, but hearing from the relatives and friends about these beautiful young girls who lost their lives was heartbreaking.
Well worth a watch! The original police work was quite sloppy, I hope today there is more accountability to see cases through to the end.
Every victim has a family that loved them, but these were naive and innocent children that deserved better from the original investigation.

Overall, Findet Dory Hd Stream show for any true-crime investigation fan! It's kinda funny to me though that they finally stopped making Otto Waalkes' character gawk at women half his age. That always seemed to be a staple in his previous work. In fact, there is a hint that he got with some grandma character who probably isn't far off from his own birth year.
Very weak final attempt for Otto Waalkes to spearhead a movie even with the help of an entire ensemble of other German comedians.
It's not surprising that his career hasn't had a revival since then and the only places you see him these days are small cameos in films like that dreadful German YouTuber movie Kartoffelsalat.
