Yeah, it's very much fluff. However, it's very funny, energetic, charming fluff that doesn't overstay its welcome. The penguins are wonderful as usual.

Dave is fantastic. The North Wind are decent, if perhaps taken out of the film a bit too quickly. There's also a couple cameos from returning characters and Werner Herzog.

Yeah, really. Issue 2: Okay, yeah, it's empty. However, I wasn't expecting this to be much more than zippy laughs and thrills. While the third act isn't quite as fun as the rest of the film and as i imagined the film is very predictable and almost instantly forgettable, Penguins of Madagascar is still a really fun and enjoyable ride thanks to its gorgeous animation, clever and funny gags, fast pace, great voice cast, entertaining action sequences, some heartfelt moments and a surprisingly well developed and solid villain.

Certainly not the best animation to come out this year but its definitely not the worst either.
