What was she thinking? Now, add "Cake" to the mix. Cameron and director Nisha Ganatra don't even bother masking their film's hackneyed plot.
Which is a shame because they have a talented cast. Graham, much like Roberts, isn't a masterful dramatic actress. But Graham clearly knows how to play comedy.
She just needs good material. Her nine-episode stint as Dr. Molly Clock on "Scrubs" proved as much. There's never a moment in "Cake" when you think, "Oh, this is different.
Poor Graham flays about buoyantly in a valiant, yet futile, attempt to elicit laughs out of this bad script.
In "Cake," she's Pippa McGee, a spunky, care-free travel writer suddenly forced to take over her dad's magazine - a bridal periodical. There's some humor in the decor of the magazine's offices as this sprightly, independent feminist tries to handle things.
But the story is so clunky and her two love interest so unreal and dull, there's not even a modicum of sense to this whole enterprise.
Pippa spends such little time with the men that it's asking a lot of us to believe either would work. As much fun as it is to see the luminescent Graham bounce around, she certainly deserves better than this mediocre fare.

She is highly inappropriate, especially when she sleeps with her gardener. She lies to get what she wants and steals to get what she needs — which usually are Percocet and maybe OxyContin with a voluminous chaser of white wine.
If Raid manufactured a human repellant, it would be called Claire. In the very first scene she gets kicked out of her touchy-feely support group led by an insufferably simpy leader a nearly unrecognizable Felicity Huffman for expressing her admiration for a member named Nina who summoned the nerve to leap off a freeway overpass to her death.
The domino effect of weeping that her words induce is sickly amusing. Claire is basically the Bad Santa of patients. The clerk offers to stash the drugs in a holy statue.
The see-saw act between privileged mistress and tolerant worker is in its way intriguing, since Silvana is far richer in what matters than Claire.
I would even allow room for the cameos by that freakish opossum who pays nocturnal visits to the backyard pool. Clearly, Claire is suffering from please-put-me-out-of-my-misery envy in a very big way.
Will Claire clean up her act or simply have a doozy of a meltdown? Or both? Or will a shady stranger suddenly show up and agree to bake her a cake to better justify the title of the movie?
It's a beautiful, heartrending scene, and the decision to rest Cake on Jennifer Aniston's shoulders was absolutely the right one. Jennifer Aniston, though, is the standout.
She clearly reveled in the chance to break away from Rachel and she aced it. There's a tiny moment where Sam Worthington's character tells her she's messed up, and she plays the reaction shot so completely differently from anything she's done in the past - that's when I really started believing her in the role and she only got better from there.
She nails her character's dry sense of humor and selfishness, and knows exactly how much charm to give her to make her watchable if not likable.
It's a seriously committed, seamless, career-defining performance and she'd be my pick for this year's Oscar. Verdict: watch it for Jennifer Aniston, walk away pleasantly surprised.
