View All Critic Reviews May 01, Twohy does a great job mainly in the first hour in slowly building an absorbing mystery in this claustrophobic mix of horror and war movie like Das Boot meets The Shining , even if later on it is weakened by stupid plot holes and a silly attempt to sound profound in the end.

But there are certain movies where I'm almost "forced" to watch them in the sense they've either been on my Netflix queue for too long, or I'm in the mood for something of that ilk.
This is one of those movies, I wasn't really intrigued, at all, by it and the concept but I decided to give it a watch. Not that I was blown away by this, but I found it to actually be a pretty good movie outside of some goofy moments near the end and some of the convoluted plot elements like finding out what really happened to Captain Winters.
I don't think the film does a great job at properly explaining what was going on with Captain Winters. Eventually you connect the dots, but it's not because they did a good job at exposition.
With that said, I still liked this film's atmosphere and most of its storytelling. The claustrophobic nature of being in such a closed-quarters setting certainly helped a lot with the storytelling.
It helps when Brice's psyche, and Loomis to a much lesser extent, starts to unravel. He becomes obsessed and paranoid with what happened to Winters, to the point he believes that Winters is haunting the submarine in order to bring it down with him.
Brice would rather sink the ship with everybody on board, than to face the consequences of his actions. The film also does a good job at throwing some red herrings in there, it's not necessarily THAT hard to figure out, but the film does make an effort to lead you down a path when it's clearly heading in the other direction.
This is a psychological horror film at its core and it definitely works for most of it, builds some good suspense and tension. I was into the film right from the start, something I wasn't really expecting.
But props to the screenwriters, including Darren Aronofsky, in managing to tell a compelling story, flaws be damned. I enjoyed this film quite a bit, it's got some corny moments near the end but those aren't really that detrimental to the final quality of the film.
If you're a fan of atmospheric, moody horror then this would be right up your alley. Jesse O Super Reviewer.
May 11, The movie comes so close to working, but Twohy can't keep the tone consistent. It doesn't help that he spends so much time developing a supernatural threat, only to abandon it in the finale for a weak resolution to the undercooked mystery behind said threat.

Echt selten, dass ich Pororo Film über die Jahre mehrmals 4mal? Weltkrieg, Atlantik: das U-Boot U. Ich Ich Bin Ein Star Stream U-Boot Filme. Eine unheimliche Präsenz wird spürbar, Gefallen Englisch vielleicht nur der Fantasie einer gestressten Besatzung entstammt, vielleicht aber auch Patrick Süßkind für ihr eigenes Schicksal sucht. Nicht für klaustrophobisch veranlagte Menschen. Spannender Film, wenn auch die Mischung aus Kriegs- und Horrorfilm ein wenig merkwürdig anmutet! A series of bizarre mechanical problems cause the crew to lose control of Tiger Shark , and the submarine turns back towards the site of her sinking of the German ship, apparently of her own volition.
Crewmen die in accidents at an alarming rate, and the crew suspect a supernatural influence, questioning Brice's version of Winters' death.
Paige and Odell discover that Tiger Shark mistook Fort James for the German submarine tender and sank the British ship; they also learn that Brice, Loomis, and Coors believed they could not afford this drastic mistake to appear on their records and conspired to suppress the story, killing Winters on the deck as he tried to save the survivors of Fort James.
Wally concludes the submarine is haunted by a "malediction" that must be satisfied to escape its netherworld between heaven and hell.
After Tiger Shark arrives at the location of the sinking of Fort James and surfaces in a disabled condition, those aboard detect a surface ship nearby.
Brice prevents the surviving crew from radioing the ship, but Paige sneaks out on deck and tries to signal the ship with a flashlight. Brice confronts her and holds her at gunpoint.
His remorse over the accident overcomes him; he admits the entire cover-up, and shoots himself in the head, falling dead into the ocean. The ship Paige signals turns out to be British, and picks up the four survivors.
Tiger Shark sinks, coming to rest on the ocean floor next to the wreck of Fort James. The submarine was towed out into Lake Michigan for filming.
